hello hello ---------- My name is Ronnie, a former DJ and radio speaker. I ran my own record shop for 12 years (Rockin'ronnie in Rennes - France).
I myself am a collector of Rock’n’Roll music from the 50's but also of Gainsbourg and the Cramps.
My collection gathers dozens of thousands of vinyl records.
I started collecting in 1962. I became a DJ in 1966, and a columnist for various rock magazines like Only Rock, Rock'n'roll actualités, Shake which organize Gene Vincent's tour in 1967. I became a disciple of Rock'n'Roll, when I was touched by the hand of God (aka Gene).
At the beginning of the 70s, the first fairs are full of Rock’n’Roll music.
Spaced out by the laughing grass and masturbation, the young hippies who enjoy Birkenstock flat shoes and brown rice despise Rock’n’Roll and prefer these hairy, annoying and self-important bands that Punk music will soon shoo away.
You could find EPs of Elvis, very popular in the States, for peanuts. An american shop would exchange them against obscure Rockabilly singles and sometimes Garage music LPs that start to appear in the first Parisian record shops for 200 / 300 francs. It is in one of these shops that I bought for 500 francs the Beatles sandwich for a friend of mine, mad about the band.
Then I was a DJ at the RTL pilot box people and back then I received a minimum of 200 to 300 records per month, including many non-commercial editions, (record companies were very generous at that time...)
At the end of the 70s, I was a DJ at the Paradize where all the local music bands met. Rennes had become the rock city with the legendary Transmusicales. And quite often, some bands leave me their test-pressings.
I opened my shop in 1984 and met all the stars of the moment and the nerdy singers who were promoting their productions at Fréquence ille, a radio station nearby.
